Telex Corp. said it will trim its worldwide work force by about 5%, partly through an unspecified number of layoffs, as a result of its merger with Memorex International N.V., which began Friday. Telex President George Bragg told employees about the company’s decision to eliminate 400 jobs in a memo circulated Wednesday. He said the successful completion of the $911-million merger with Memorex would keep layoffs to a minimum and that some jobs will be eliminated through attrition. Telex employs 8,000 worldwide, 1,800 in Tulsa and about 1,200 in Raleigh, N.C.
