Hungarian Tenor in ‘Trovatore’ Role

San Diego Opera has announced that Hungarian tenor Janos Nagy will replace Giuseppe Giacomini as Manrico in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore.” The San Diego production opens Feb. 27.
According to SDO general director Ian Campbell, “Giacomini has not claimed illness, and the reason (for his cancellation) appears to be connected with the devalued dollar.”
