Burbank Delays Action on Industry in Horsy Rancho

Share

The Burbank City Council on Tuesday postponed deciding whether industrial development will be allowed in the Rancho community of Burbank, where residents can keep horses.

The governing body had been scheduled to determine whether an 11-acre parcel of the community, the Mariposa Triangle, should be rezoned to restrict development to single-family residences with horses.

Most of the area is zoned for residences with horses already, but several developers have expressed interest in building industries and businesses within the triangle, now zoned for light industrial development.

The developer of a proposed 10,000-square-foot industrial building, Peter Hillman, said he will delay moving forward with plans for 30 days so that officials can work out a solution with him that is acceptable to residents who are opposed to any development that would alter the character of the neighborhood. They prefer that something like a stable be built.

The council is scheduled to address the issue again at its Jan. 26 meeting.
