Local News in Brief : West County : Wieder Says Survey Favors a Road Tax
About 64% of west county residents who responded to a mail survey favor increasing local taxes to pay for transportation improvements, Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder said this week.
The survey of Wieder’s constituents also showed that 57.1% of the respondents rank traffic congestion as a top issue.
The poll, mailed with a letter to all registered voters in the 2nd District in October, also showed that respondents would use alternate work hours to reduce commute-hour traffic.
The number of people who responded to the survey was not immediately available late Tuesday.
Wieder’s district includes Huntington Beach, Cypress, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach, Stanton, Sunset Beach and western portions of Garden Grove and Westminster.
