Los Angeles County postal service officials say that federal budgets cutbacks approved this week have forced the cancellation of about $250 million worth of new construction projects.
Among the projects that have been shelved and the estimated savings through cancellation:
Van Nuys general mail facility
$90 million Alhambra mail facility
$61.7 million Beverly Hills main post office
$21.3 million Rancho Park-West Los Angeles
$12.2 million Palos Verdes main post office
$9.9 million Manhattan Beach post office
$9.6 million Tarzana post office
$9 million Westchester post office
$8.7 million North Long Beach post office
$6.3 million East Los Angeles Hazard office
$4.3 million Lincoln Heights post office
$3.7 million Altadena main post office
$3.5 million Los Alamitos main post office
