Retirements: Anaheim Police Chief Jimmie D. Kennedy will retire Thursday after 29 years on the force. Kennedy, 53, has been police chief of the county’s largest city since 1983. He announced his retirement in October.

Also effective Thursday, James Roosevelt, eldest son of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, will retire from the Orange County Transporation Commission. He has served for 6 1/2 years as the commission’s at-large member. Roosevelt, 79, underwent surgery for colon cancer in March and was told by his doctor to curtail some activities.
