Out of the Running

Thanks for running the revelatory piece on Pat Schroeder’s indecisive, amateurish and arrogant bid for the highest office in the land (“The Campaign That Never Was,” Nov. 15). Author Kathy Bonk’s willingness to tell all about Schroeder’s unwillingness to run answered some nagging questions about this perplexing “non-campaign.” The bitter irony is that by entering a race she never intended to finish if it meant risking her congressional seat, Schroeder has significantly jeopardized the serious work of women committed to “the greater goal” of putting women in positions of greater political influence.
