Adventures South of the Border, featuring the Galapagos Islands, South America, Central America and the Caribbean will be presented Wednesdays by the Torrance Adult School in a four-part series from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Jan. 6 in Room 7 of the Jefferson Adult Center, 21717 Talisman St., Torrance. Elementary, intermediate and conversation classes in Spanish, French, Japanese, Italian, Persian, Russian and modern Greek will be sponsored by UCLA Extension on Saturdays at the university beginning Jan. 9. Cost is $180 for elementary-level classes, $195 for intermediate. Persian, Spanish, French and Russian conversation classes will be held Saturdays at 9 a.m. beginning Jan. 16.
