Hollywood : Vote on Melrose Hill Zone
The Los Angeles City Council’s Planning and Environment Committee on Tuesday is expected to vote on declaring the Melrose Hill neighborhood a historic preservation zone.
The neighborhood, bounded by Marathon Street, Melrose, Oxford and Lemon Grove avenues and Hobart Boulevard, is famous for its distinctive bungalow-style homes built between 1911 and 1926.
The city Planning Commission in August voted 4 to 0 to recommend declaring the area a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, which would give residents a strong advisory role in any proposed demolitions or major remodeling.
The proposal will go to the council for a final vote.
