Texas Death Row Inmate Wins Stay in U.S. Court

HUNTSVILLE, Tex. — A federal judge on Tuesday blocked a scheduled execution pending a ruling on the condemned man’s request for a hearing on several appeal issues. Mario Marquez, 29, was to have been put to death by injection early today for raping and strangling his 14-year-old niece.
