A bandit who took an undetermined amount of money from a Cerritos Valley Bank in Anaheim Wednesday was last seen in a nearby parking lot engulfed in a cloud of red smoke from an exploding dye packet.

Anaheim Police Lt. Jack Parra said the robber entered the bank in the 1100 block of North Magnolia Avenue at 3:41 p.m. and demanded money while brandishing a revolver.

A teller followed the gunman’s orders but slipped the exploding package of dye into the bandit’s knapsack along with the bills.

The man, according to Parra, walked from the bank and was seen seconds later trying to get the smoking dye pack out of his knapsack. A cloud of red smoke was seen in the parking lot.

Parra said the robber was described as 5-foot-8 and in his 20s. He was light-skinned, Parra added, but is now probably red.
