A 32-year-old motorcyclist who police said was riding too fast along a Fairmount Avenue off-ramp died of injuries sustained when his cycle plunged to the canyon below, police said Friday.

Timothy Sheeham, of the 2200 Block of River Run Drive, died of extensive head injuries at Alvarado Hospital at 11:51 p.m. Thursday, Deputy Coroner Cal Vine said.

Police said Sheeham was traveling south on Fairmount Avenue when he lost control of his motorcycle as he tried to make a turn onto Montezuma Road. The motorcycle veered off the road and into the canyon about 11 p.m.
