Dan J. Bradley; Crusader for AIDS Patients’ Rights

Dan J. Bradley, 47, former president of the Legal Services Corp., the government agency that provides legal services for the poor. Bradley, one of 64 people arrested last June across from the White House during a Human Rights Campaign Fund-sponsored protest of the Administration’s AIDS policies, was a co-founder of the fund. He had gone into private law practice in Miami after leaving the Carter Administration in 1981. Bradley was believed the highest ranking federal official to ever openly declare his homosexuality although he chose not to do so until after he left the Carter team.
