Group Organizes to ‘Draft Jimmy Carter’
A group in Maryland has formed a Draft Jimmy Carter for President in 1988 Committee.
“People’s perception of leadership, of what is required of a President are different, but generally people look at experience and character,” said Clifford E. Snyder Jr., 32, founder and treasurer of the committee. “I think if you look at either category, Carter would top the list.”
Snyder, a protein biochemist at the Frederick Cancer Research Facility, has filed a statement of organization with the Federal Election Commission. The filing made the five-member group an independent political committee, which has its headquarters in Snyder’s Frederick County home.
