Jane Fonda arrived in Mexico City on Friday to prepare for her role as actress and producer in the film version of “Old Gringo,” based on the novel by Carlos Fuentes. Fonda told reporters at Mexico City International Airport that she hopes to learn Spanish, the Excelsior national news service reported. Filming is scheduled to start next Monday. Meanwhile, Nicaragua’s Sandinista government is preparing to honor Fuentes on Thursday with the Order of Ruben Dario award--the country’s highest cultural prize.
