Anti-Gridlock Traffic Law

Those that run our government would have us believe they always know what is best for us, but they continue to make blunder after blunder after blunder, year after year.

Gridlock will never be avoided by car-pools, van-pools, diamond lanes, building more freeways, new rules by the Air Quality Management District board or threats of more tickets by the police for jaywalkers or blocked intersections.

The only solution is to change the working hours of the largest group of people using the freeways from noon to 8 p.m. This group would include all those who work for city, county, state and federal government in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino, excluding employees from the police, fire, post office, Caltrans, hospitals and the Armed Forces. This would immediately reduce traffic by at least 20%, giving those in our government with a few smarts time to install a reliable surface transportation system to forestall a possible gridlock in the future as hundreds of cars are added every day. Also trucks should not be allowed to make deliveries on the freeways before 8 a.m. and no later than 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Not only would this plan eliminate gridlock, it would reduce emissions by using less gasoline, there would be no lost time for those who have to take time off from their jobs to take care of business--they could do it between 4 and 8 p.m. It would reduce juvenile delinquency as one or more of the working parents would be home with their children.

The only disadvantage that will keep those in government from implementing it: It is too simple and too logical.
