Anaheim : Local News in Brief : Cause of Man’s Death in Club Fire Uncertain
A 27-year-old man who was found dead in a burned-out Anaheim entertainment club may have died from smoke inhalation, but the results of an autopsy Monday were inconclusive, Supervising Coroner’s Deputy Richard Slaughter said.
Steve Scott Ayotte, 27, of Anaheim was an employee of Big John’s Billiards and Pizza on East Orangethorpe Avenue. Authorities said that so far they had found no evidence of foul play, but toxicological tests are still being conducted on the body.
“There is the appearance of probable smoke inhalation, but that’s still just speculation,” Slaughter said.
Anaheim Fire Investigator Mike Feeney said damage to the pool hall in the Sunday blaze totaled about $800,000.
