Lynwood : Street Sweeping Contract

Lynwood will save more than $10,000 by awarding street sweeping services to a Norwalk company, which was the low bidder among three contractors, according to the city director of public works.
The City Council has authorized city staff to begin preparing a one-year agreement for $112,530 with Joe’s Sweeping Co., said Joseph V. Wang. The city will save $10,920 or almost 9% of last year’s contract, Wang said.
R. F. Dickson Co. Inc. of Downey, which had the contract, was requesting a 42% increase of $51,849 over its previous year’s contract of $123,450, Wang said.
Meanwhile, Lynwood streets are being swept temporarily by city street sweepers as the contract is being completed. It is estimated that it would cost the city about $170,000 to do the sweeping with its own crews, Wang said.
