Share

Louise Pomeroy, founder and president of Abigal Abbott Personnel Cos. based in Tustin, has been named Cypress College’s 1988 honoree of the year.

Pomeroy will receive her award at the college’s 13th annual Americana Awards Dinner, which will be held Feb. 20 at the Disneyland Hotel.

Each year, the community college names its choice for Orange County man or woman of the year. The selection is made by a committee composed of Cypress College Foundation directors, college officials and members of the community, according to John T. Wagner, executive director of the foundation.

Pomeroy, of La Habra Heights, was chosen, Wagner said, because she “really epitomizes the American success story. . . . In the middle of her life, after having raised her children, she was forced by financial necessity to go to work. . . . She had only limited work experience, but despite this, she formed one of the largest and most successful personnel companies in Southern California.”
