Dubai to Import Sand

COPENHAGEN —
Not content with its own 1,500 square miles of desert, the sheikdom of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has decided to import 30 tons of sand from Denmark, a spokesman said today. The high quartz content of the western Danish sand makes it ideal for water filtration, a task impossible with fine desert sand.
