Shamrock Holdings ended its bid, as expected, for Wherehouse Entertainment. The Burbank investment company, owned by the family of Roy E. Disney, holds a 10.3% stake in Wherehouse and had bid $91 million, or $12 a share, for the stock it doesn’t own. But Shamrock’s offer for the Torrance music and video retailer was topped last month by the New York investment firm Adler & Shaykin, which agreed to pay $14 a share, or $118 million, for Wherehouse’s 8.4 million shares outstanding.
