Gunshots were fired Thursday at the house of a female witness to the shooting of San Diego Police Officer Jerry L. Hartless, police said.
The bullets hit the front of the house and some cars, but no one in the house was harmed, said Bill Robinson, spokesman for the San Diego Police Department. The suspects in the shooting remain at large, he said.
The shooting was the second intimidation incident reported by the witness, Robinson said. On Wednesday, Joseph Singleton, 22, was arrested by the San Diego police gang unit and accused of slapping the same female witness to find out what she had told police about the shooting.
Hartless was shot once in the forehead early Saturday while chasing a group of people in an area of Southeast San Diego known for its drug activity. Stacy Don Butler has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Hartless remains in critical condition at UC San Diego Medical Center with a bullet in his brain.
