Micom Shows 3rd-Quarter Gains in Profits and Sales

Micom Systems, a Simi Valley-based maker of products for linking computers, reported an 11% gain in fiscal third-quarter profits and sales compared to a year earlier.

Net income for the quarter ended Dec. 31 climbed to $1.9 million, or 10 cents a share, from $1.7 million, or 9 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales rose to $56.6 million from $50.9 million.

For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Micom’s earnings jumped to $5 million, or 27 cents a share, from $884,000, or 5 cents a share, a year earlier. Nine-month sales increased 10% to $159.5 million from $145.6 million.

Micom said the results were adjusted to include the results of Spectrum Digital Corp., a Herndon, Va.-maker of computer communications products, that Micom acquired last month for $19.4 million.
