Gov. George Deukmejian has called a special primary election for April 12 to fill an Assembly seat vacated by the recent election of Democrat Art Agnos as San Francisco mayor. The general election runoff will be consolidated with the statewide primary election June 7. Former Democratic Rep. John Burton, Democrat Roberta Achtenberg, Republican Stephen Callahan and Peace and Freedom Party member Melissa Ehman have taken out petitions indicating their intention to run for the seat.
