Motorola’s income rose 58.7% to $308 million in 1987. The Schaumburg, Ill., company reported better results in many of its businesses, including a 12% sales increase in the communications sector, a 21% sales increase in semiconductor products, a 13% sales increase in its Information Systems Group and a 4% hike in its Automotive & Industrial Electronics Group. Sales for the year rose 14% to $6.71 billion.
