Barber Held After Guns Found

A 56-year-old barber was being held on suspicion of receiving stolen property this morning after Los Angeles police said they found 68 guns--pistols, rifles, shotguns and submachine guns--and 2,000 rounds of ammunition in his Hyde Park-area home.

Officers said they obtained a warrant to search Wilmer Floyd Jr.’s home in the 2900 block of West 79th Street after receiving a tip from an informant. Investigators discounted initial reports that Floyd was selling the guns, many of which had been stolen, to gang members. “All they can tell right now is that he was a gun buff,” press relations officer Bill Frio said.
