West Hollywood : Disco’s Liquor License in Peril

Share

The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has accused Peanuts, a popular West Hollywood disco, of violating state liquor laws and is asking for a 40-day suspension of the establishment’s liquor license.

The accusation stems from an incident at the disco last July in which an employee is accused of attacking a sheriff’s deputy after another employee allegedly sold liquor to a minor, said Dan Toomey, an enforcement officer with the department.

An administrative law judge is expected to hear the case in April, he said.

In recent weeks, the establishment has also come under attack from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which has asked the city’s Business License Commission to restrict the hours it is allowed to sell liquor.

Deputies said they have received numerous complaints about under-age drinking at the disco, at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd., as well as disturbances outside the establishment.
