Some GM cars will be equipped with digital audio tape players by summer, even though there may be few, if any, tapes to play on them, Delco Electronics officials said. Delco, a subsidiary of GM Hughes Electronics, said it expects the industry’s home-taping dispute to be resolved soon and figures that being among the first in the auto sound market with DAT in cars was an acceptable risk. “The consumer has come to expect the same type of sound in an automobile as they can get in their living room,” said Donald Almquist, Delco vice president.
