Share

The former owner and general manager of Butler Industries were indicted Friday on charges of submitting false claims on subcontracts for the Air Force B-1 bomber.

Robert Butler, owner of the Valencia-based aerospace company, and Steven Wooten, former general manager, were charged with submitting an estimated $200,000 in false claims to Rockwell International, the prime contractor on the B-1 bomber project, for work never performed.

The federal grand jury indictment charges the two men with conspiracy to defraud and making false statements to a government agency--charges for which they could face a maximum of 50 years in prison and $90,000 in fines.

The two men left Butler Industries in November when they were indicted on tax charges. They allegedly wrote company checks made out to fictitious payees and subsequently cashed but never claimed on their tax returns.
