Tearful Taiwanese View Chiang Cortege

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Thousands of tearful mourners, some on their knees, lined the streets of Taipei on Friday as a the body of President Chiang Ching-kuo was carried by hearse to the Martyrs Shrine.
Chiang, who died Jan. 13 at age 77, will lie in state inside a bronze casket with a glass top in the palace-like shrine until burial Jan. 30.
