James Siena; Former Defense Aide
James Siena, 55, a Stanford Law School graduate who served as deputy undersecretary for international affairs in the Department of the Army, legal adviser to Stanford President Richard W. Lyman during the height of campus student demonstrations, and then became assistant secretary for international security affairs in the Defense Department. At the time of his death Jan. 3 of lung cancer, he was vice president and general counsel of the American Institute of Architects in Washington, where he died.
