Local News in Brief : Library Surveys Mailed

Share

The Palos Verdes Library District, which serves the four Palos Verdes Peninsula cities and has been financially strained since passage of Proposition 13 a decade ago, has sent a mail survey to 23,000 households within the district asking their opinions on services, future needs and whether they would support new bond issues or parcel taxes to maintain and expand the library services and facilities. Questionnaires are supposed to be returned by Friday.

“The purpose of the survey is to see if the library is doing what the community wants,” said Director Linda Elliott, explaining that the survey will help in the development of a 5-year plan to meet future library needs. It is being written by a citizens committee appointed by the district board. Questions include whether the libraries should change their hours, what services people would pay for and how future needs should be financed.
