‘Flapper’ Colleen Moore Dies

Colleen Moore, whose bobbed-hair and flamboyant style made her the quintessential Flapper Girl of film during the Roaring ‘20s, died this morning at her ranch home in Templeton near Paso Robles.

Dr. James R. Spencer, a longtime friend, said she had been suffering from cancer. She was 87. Moore, who was born Kathleen Morrison, was given her first film job in return for a favor director D. W. Griffith owed her uncle. Between 1917 and 1934 she made nearly 50 motion pictures before retiring to become a successful investment counselor and author.

She is survived by her third husband, Paul Maginot, and two adopted children.
