The Nation : Meese to Review FBI Probe of Policy Foes

Share

Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III said that he will review allegations of harassment in the FBI’s investigations of opponents of the Administration’s Central America policy. Meese met at the White House with FBI Director William S. Sessions and White House Chief of Staff Howard H. Baker Jr. following a request by the White House for information on the FBI’s domestic surveillance campaign. The Center for Constitutional Rights, a New York-based lawyers group, announced Wednesday that it had received more than 1,300 pages of government documents showing the FBI had investigated hundreds of organizations and individuals opposed to U.S. policy in Central America, including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Maryknoll Sisters.
