VA Drops Mortgage Rate 1%

WASHINGTON —
The Veterans Administration said today it is lowering its maximum interest rate for federally backed VA home mortgages a full percentage point to 9.5%.
The VA said it was making the change, to take effect on Monday, to bring its rate in line with the mortgage market, which has been moving down in recent weeks.
