Woman’s Suit on Exploding Perfume Bottle Rejected

A woman who claimed she suffered injuries and anguish when a bottle of Charlie perfume exploded in her face has lost her lawsuit against the perfume’s manufacturer and the store that sold her the fragrance.

Sheila Colosimo of Eveleth filed suit against Revlon Inc. and Pamida Inc. in September, 1985, seeking more than $50,000 in damages. She claimed the product was defective and that the manufacturer and seller failed to warn of possible hazards.

After a three-day trial last week in federal court, a jury found that the product was not defective.

Colosimo claimed in the suit that she suffered an eye injury from flying glass. Revlon and Pamida maintained that any injuries suffered by Colosimo were the result of her misusing or abusing the product.
