Luigi, a capuchin monkey that once took a bite out of Johnny Carson’s ear on “The Tonight Show” and appeared on numerous TV shows and films, died of heart failure Monday night in Miami. Albert Seigle, Luigi’s owner, said the monkey was 25. Luigi could play the cymbals, dance and (according to Seigle) read the newspaper, and in the 1970s demonstrated the proper way to brush one’s teeth on Pepsodent commercials. The ape was also an attraction at Miami Beach hotels and national department store chains. Luigi is scheduled to be buried today.
