Northern Ireland police discovered a major arms haul in the back of a refrigerated truck stopped near Belfast, police said. The consignment, one of the biggest found in the troubled province, included Soviet-made rocket launchers, nearly 30 rifles and handguns and almost 10,000 rounds of ammunition, they said. Police believe the guns and ammunition were on their way for distribution in Belfast to Irish Republican Army guerrillas, who are fighting to end British rule of Northern Ireland. A spokesman said the weapons had been hidden inside cardboard ice-cream boxes.
