“USA Today”--that is, the TV version scheduled to hit the air in September on a daily half-hour schedule--already has three of its four anchors signed, sources tell us. And staffers from the newspaper version, who had hoped for a shot at video fame, can return to their desks. The jobs went to network pros.

Bill Macatee of NBC Sports will anchor the Sports section. Also inked: former ABC White House correspondent Kenneth Walker and Robin Young, who contributed to the “Today” show.

Former “Today Show” exec producer Steve Friedman, who followed former NBC chairman Grant Tinker to the new GTG Entertainment, wouldn’t confirm any anchor positions but noted that 15 of the 28 staff positions filled so far went to former NBC staffers. He cited “an old race track theory, that you go with what got you there. These are the people that got me here.”

No, the new show won’t look like “Today.” “That’s more of an interview show,” he said. “This is going to have lots of graphics, be heavy on glitz and be very fast-moving.”
