Police in Beaverton, Ore., captured a twice-convicted child molester wanted for failing to clearly post signs on his house and vehicle warning he was a dangerous sex offender. Richard Bateman, 47, of Portland, who had been sought for three weeks, was arrested near a construction site where he worked. He faces a hearing today on two counts of violating probation. Last year, Bateman was ordered to post signs stating “Dangerous sex offender: no children allowed” on his residence and vehicle as a condition of probation, but a judge ordered his arrest when it was learned that the sign posted on his residence was obscured by a wreath and Christmas cards.
