The U.S. semiconductor market enjoyed its second consecutive month of $1-billion-plus bookings, the Cupertino, Calif.-based Semiconductor Industry Assn. reported, although January shipments were less than in December. The January book-to-bill ratio for the month was 1.13, meaning that for every $100 worth of product shipped (billed), manufacturers received $113 worth of new orders (bookings). Billings declined 12.2% in January to $850.7 million; for the three-month period ending in January, average monthly bookings (orders) totaled $1.014 billion, down 2.9% from December’s $1.044 billion.
