How splendid that the schools and government offices will be closed on Feb. 15--the birthday of one of the most courageous and dedicated human rights activists, whose life and whose work have brought honor to our country. Her early and unwavering opposition to slavery and her insistence on the rights of black and female citizens should never be forgotten.

Thank you and happy birthday, Susan B. Anthony.

And let us not forget George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose births will also be celebrated that day.
