House Vote on Contra Aid

Share

I read an editorial (“The Case Against Aid,” Feb. 2) in The Times urging Congress to vote against aid to the Contras. I watched on C-Span TV on Feb. 3 as 219 members of the House voted down aid to the Contras.

These actions caused me to remember the late 1930s, and what turned out to be the beginning of World War II. At that time England had Neville Chamberlain, who believed that Adolf Hitler could be trusted. Now we have 220 Neville Chamberlains--219 congressmen and The Times--who believe that Daniel Ortega can be trusted.
