A mother and daughter were arrested Monday on suspicion of stealing a $20,000 painting from a private club, Los Angeles police said.

Fawn Harris, 55, and Doe Harris, 30, of Beverly Hills, who ran an antique show at the Ebell Club, at the historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre in the Mid-Wilshire district, stole William Wendt’s “View of Morro Bay” in late November, Detective Bill Martin said.

The 1925 painting had been hanging in one of the rooms booked for the antique show when it was reported missing, Martin said. It was discovered earlier this month at a gallery in Laguna Beach.

Martin said the mother and daughter sold it to the gallery owners for $13,500. The gallery owners, who were not identified, were “legitimate” and did not know the painting was stolen when they bought it, he said.

Bail for Fawn Harris was set at $4,000 and her daughter’s bail was $3,000.
