3 Iraqi Jets Downed, Iran Says

MANAMA, Bahrain —
Iran’s aging air force claimed a major air victory, saying it shot down three Iraqi jets today in daylight air battles within two hours over the Persian Gulf. The two dogfights were the first reported in several months.
