NHL OKs Transfer of Stock to McNall

The transfer of 51% interest in the Kings from Jerry Buss to Bruce McNall, giving McNall 100% ownership of the franchise, was unanimously approved Tuesday by the National Hockey League’s Board of Governors.

McNall said that details of the sale, which include a stipulation that the Kings play at the Buss-owned Forum for at least the next 20 years, had not yet been finalized, but would probably be worked out within the next week.

“If enthusiasm translates into success,” NHL President John Ziegler said, “the Kings are going to be very successful under Bruce McNall.

“We’ll miss Jerry. He never attended our meetings, but he was always supportive of the actions we wanted to take as a league.”
