Meat Loaf With a Sweet Difference for Family or Company

Share

“My family has enjoyed my Frosted Meat Loaf for many years,” Rosalind Sala writes. “I have submitted the recipe in several contests, and it has been a winner four times. This recipe can be used for any occasion. It can be prepared and baked in advance. It freezes well and is a lifesaver when unexpected company arrives.”

FROSTED MEAT LOAF

2/3 cup soda cracker crumbs

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

2 eggs, lightly beaten

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup minced onion

1/2 teaspoon ground sage

Frosting

In large bowl combine cracker crumbs, ground beef, eggs, pepper, salt, milk, onion and sage. Mix well. Turn into 8x4-inch loaf pan. Spread Frosting over meat loaf. Bake at 350 degrees 1 1/4 hours. Makes 8 servings.

Frosting

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 cup catsup

1 teaspoon prepared mustard

Combine brown sugar, nutmeg, catsup and mustard and mix well.
