Networks and Reagan’s Talk
It appears to me as though the current emperors of the three major networks have donned the robes of Marie Antoinette in asserting their superiority in judgment over that of the President of the United States.
I note that the President Reagan’s speech on Contra aid made the front page of The Times (Feb. 3). The three networks served us a diet of situation comedy and stale private-eye machinations instead of letting us see and hear the President as well as the loyal opposition.
This is an issue that may well be a major battleground in the forthcoming national election. No one elected anyone at any of the three networks and they should not be privileged to exercise veto authority over the President and over the party in opposition.
