An upbeat rock tune is the latest anti-poaching weapon being used by the Zimbabwean government to help save the dwindling black rhinoceros population there. “Run, Rhino, Run,” is a pop song by Zimbabwe nightclub singer Bud Cockroft. His song’s opening line goes: “The Zambezi River Valley is a paradise, where rhinos still roam free.” The refrain urges the rhino to “Run, rhino, run, away from the poacher and his gun.” Proceeds of sales of the record will go to the Save African Endangered Wildlife Foundation (SAVE), which has already raised $360,000 for the battle to protect Zimbabwe’s threatened black-rhinoceros population.
