Child-Care Dilemma

On behalf of the children whose needs I try to meet but who do not yet have enough language to speak for themselves, I thank you so much for your very clear and positive editorial concerning child care (“Understanding a Big Need,” Jan. 20).

As a child-care teacher for 18 years I’ve watched the need grow, monies decline and the ongoing frustrating problems of where will the next cutback be. Finally, after years and years of vetoes on all child-care bills, our governor has now included in his budget a cost of living adjustment for public child-care schools. Perhaps we should publicly thank him.
